DJ Jaffe: Mental Illness Awareness Week Is Nothing to Celebrate — In Fact, It Doesn’t Even Exist

Huffington Post isn’t where I usually get my mental-health news, but DJ Jaffe wrote this column, “Mental Illness Awareness Week Is Nothing to Celebrate — In Fact, It Doesn’t Even Exist.”

Though I don’t agree with all of his points, I share his sentiment on others and understand where he’s coming from. It’s worth a read.

  1. Just want to thank you for your blog. I am going through ECT now and have found it very helpful to read about your experience.

  2. Thank you so much for your note and for reading my little journal. I hope all goes well for you and hope that we keep in touch as you go through the treatment.

  3. fitting and true.We lost our 23 year old son to schizophrenia october first 2009 mental health awareness week? if the plattsburgh police department and a mental health court judge aren’t aware that they have an extremely decompensated mentally ill young man standing right in front of them, where do we turn?
